The Penang International Science Fair (PISF) 2014 was held on 15 – 16 November 2014 (Saturday & Sunday), 9.00 am – 6.00 pm at sPICE (PISA), Penang.
It is an event organized as part of the Penang Science Cluster’s (PSC) mission of “Inspiring Innovation”, which focuses on developing young minds and exposing them to science and engineering through an unique, stimulating and innovative experience.
Objectives
PISF objectives are to showcase the activities that Pillar Leaders of the PSC have been conducting the whole year round with school students in Penang, and offer opportunities for others to participate in the hands-on science activities; and to showcase the high-tech products and expertise available in the industries in Penang and the science behind them.Participation of KLESF
Workshop: Chemistry in Daily Phenomenon
Chemistry in Daily Phenomenon is a workshop which brings to you interesting daily phenomena that are Chemistry related. This fun 6-hours workshop (covering two sessions in a day) is designed to introduce participants to the world of particles. During the workshop, participants are guided to conduct several projects such as paper chromatography, self-designed dyeing, natural batteries, and more. All of the mini projects are sourced from natural resources. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to comprehend and relate many natural phenomena with Chemistry. Outcome from the projects can be memorable souvenirs to the participants. This workshop is suitable for beginners from 10 years old to 15 years old. Younger participants (ages < 10) with close guidance from parents are also welcome.- Workshop on Pigment Separation and Utilisation – by Dr Tey Lai Hock of UTAR and UTAR students.

- Workshop in DIY for bath boom – by Mr Looi Sing Yan, Ms Ooi Cheau Pian, Ms Song Poh Choo and Mr Yuen Hawk Leong of UTAR and students of SMJK Pei Yuan, Kampar (accompanied by their teachers).
