KLESF International Challenge 2024 will be held physically in conjunction with KLESF: The Fair 2024:

PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION IS FREE OF CHARGE.

Objectives

  • To enhance school students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
  • To unleash students’ innovative potential via their STEM projects.
  • To promote students’ skills in problem solving, communication, thinking and innovation.
  • To foster greater interaction for schools, educators, industries, public and private sectors to share information and experiences on projects in STEM.
  • To promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students.

Introduction

Schools students from Malaysia and overseas with STEM projects are invited to participate in the KLESF International Challenge 2024 by demonstrating their projects to the public.

Category
  • Primary school (12 years old or below)
  • Secondary school (13 – 18 years old)
Project Theme

Project that can address the following sustainable development goals

  • Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)
  • Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11)
Assessment Criteria
  • Originality & innovativeness (25%)
  • Project execution (25%)
  • Quality & impact (25%)
  • Project presentation and communication (25%)

Students are required to be present at the booth all 3 days. Any teams that are absent for any of the 3 days will not be eligible for the bronze, silver and gold awards.

Participation
  • Team size (1 to 3 student members + 1 project mentor/teacher)
  • No limit to the number of teams from each school
  • Participation form is to be filled up by each team
  • No fees are charged for participation
  • Each team is required to exhibit throughout the 3-day event
  • Setting up will be done on the first day of the event. Details will be provided by the organiser through emails.
  • Each participating team will be provided 1 info desk, 3 chairs, 1 electrical point and a 1m x 2.5m shell board. Each team is responsible to bring other necessities for the setting up of its booth.
  • Each team is to exhibit its project at the assigned booth throughout the event period regardless of assessment progress and status.
  • Assessment by judges will be carried out during one of the 3 days event through interview and project presentation at the exhibition booth.
Prizes

For each category, the following prizes will be available for an award based on the recommendation of the panel of judges.

  • Gold medal (RM 500, certificate)
  • Silver medal (RM 200, certificate)
  • Bronze medal (RM 100, certificate)
  • Merit (certificate)

All student participants of the qualifying entries will be awarded a Certificate of Participation.

Yes. When you register the competition, you have to select the number of participants. Participation could be sole, in pairs or a team of maximum 3 members.

A maximum of three (3) members are allowed per team. Only a maximum of 3 persons is presenting to the judges.

Yes can. Please take note that the team members must be in the same age range as we have 2 categories:

  • Primary school (12 years old or below)
  • Secondary school (13 – 18 years old)
